Book of the Month

August 14th, 2010

This month we are reading Jack Kornfield’s After the Ecstasy, the Laundry. A beautifully well written testament to the struggles, challenges, beauty and joy of walking on a spiritual path.  This book touches issue that beginners and Elder practitioners alike will find relevant for their practice.  Let us know what you think about the book and help continue the dialogue about your own practice and both your ecstasy and bliss and the laundry you do right after those moments!

Maitri House Moves to the Bay!

August 10th, 2010

Alright, MHY has officially moved to the East Bay in Northern California.  We already have some great connections in the Yoga and Buddhist world here.  Jonathan and Jen Reynolds of Learning to Listen and their beautiful son Henry have welcomed us into their home and community.  We will be partnering with them soon to establish a new Dharma and Thai food evening monthly schedule.  There will be new classes starting at various locations in the East Bay.  Also, our Thai Cooking Classes will begin in September, so email or call us to book an event at your house!

Thanks for coming along with us on this new journey into Practice.

With Love,

MHY

Special News

March 12th, 2010

The Abbot of Thai Buddhist temple Wat Khao Khaeo in Tak Province has given Michael permission to teach the Buddhist Dharma in the United States.  So now MHY is officially a branch of that temple, formally known as Wat Manee Banpot Worawihan.  This means Michael is now allowed to take students and offer precepts.  Please contact MHY for more information if you are interested in learning more about taking Buddhist precepts.

We are very excited for this privilege and wish to celebrate with all of you.  We are offering a Dharma evening celebration on Sunday, March 21st at MHY in SE Portland.  Please RSVP if interested.
